Unity in decision-making

José Bernardo

One of the greatest challenges for Christian leadership is to make innovative decisions that are entirely absorbed by the ministry, without resistance, objections and setbacks that delay service and productivity. Worldly leaders use many tricks to 'sell' their decision to the team, but Paulo, inspired by the Spirit, proposed something different: “... then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind” Fp 2: 2. In many situations the apostle defended an organic unit, where conflicts and disputes would be absent; this passage was the only time he used the term gr. sumpsuchos, 'together in the soul'. Think today about how your church members or ministry participants can come to assess, prefer, be and act in full unity. Think about what you will do to make them have the same soul so that the decisions are unanimous.
