With the development of social marketing, the idea of giving alms was overcome. In Brazil, since the 1990s, the Third Sector has established itself as an economic force. But the Christian leadership still does not know how to deal with this in its biblical mission of communicating the Gospel: for some the church is a market, for others it is an NGO. Between one error and another, there is the misinterpretation of Mt 10:8 “Freely you have received; freely give”; this has been a reason for poor engagement. In fact, Jesus charged a very high price for discipleship, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me” Mt 16:24. When the disciples did the math, they did not think that letting everything be received for free in the sense that miserly people take it (Mt 19:27). Do not cheapen the Gospel, charge the price of complete dedication instead. This is Biblical leadership.
