Leadership is established by the legitimacy of its power. People will always ask "Who made you ruler and judge over us?" Ex 2:14. New generations question the legitimacy of the Church's power to 'impose' its faith through evangelization. The difficulty in responding to such question disrupts our mission and identity. However, when Jesus defined the mission, he also established the legitimate power to carry it out: “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples” Mt 28: 18,19. The legitimate power of the Church resides in the person of Christ. The authority of the Church is to be the Body of Christ. To exercise it, we must let Christ live in us. Make sure you feel, think and act like Christ, that is where stands your authority to lead, to show others the way they should follow. This is biblical leadership.
